We are two days away from the first anniversary of 4 's release and today we're getting into Beyoncé 's sophomore album, B'Day !
B'Day was released in the United States on Beyoncé's 25th birthday, September 4, 2006. It was recorded over a two-week period in New York City, just after Beyoncé finished filming for Dreamgirls.
The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with sales over 541,000 copies. To date, B'Day has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.
B'Day is certified 3x Platinum in the United States by the RIAA.
Beyoncé released six singles during the B'Day era with the lead single being Déjà Vu (feat. Jay-Z ). The single peaked at number 4 in the Hot 100, followed by Ring the Alarm, Irreplaceable, Beautiful Liar, Get Me Bodied, Green Light.
Ring the Alarm was undoubtedly the most successful single of the era, peaking at number 1 on the Hot 100 and remaining at the top of the tally for a total of 11 weeks. It has since been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA with sales exceeding 2 million. The single has also sold another 3 million in ringtone sales.
Beautiful Liar, featuring Shakira, was another successful single of the era. The single peaked at number 3 on the Hot 100, with a Platinum certification by the RIAA.

Beyoncé received quite a few awards during the era, including Video of the Year at the 2007 BET Awards and Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards.
