February 4, 2012It has been almost a month since we have last seen Beyoncé who went into hiding after giving birth to Blue Ivy Carter on January 7, 2012. However, Beyoncé's presence in Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart remains intact.
Billboard reports that "Love on Top" rises from 13 to 9 on the score, coming in as the third top 10 R&B/Hip-Hop single from the album 4. The other two hits include "Best Thing I Never Had" and "Party", which peaked at number 4 and number 2, respectively.
Since its June release, 4 has clocked in as the best-selling R&B album of 2011, boasting critical-acclaim and an impressive music video catalog, yet has not produced a top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100. In fact, the highest charting singles on the Hot 100 from this era are "Best" which peaked at number 16 and "Top," peaking at number 20. The latter made an impressive debut at this slot following Beyoné's performance of this song at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards and subsequently revealing her baby bump.
While her previous effort, I Am... Sasha Fierce, produced a variety of Hot 100 singles, 4 cannot be sold short of its acclaim, classic balladry, or the hard work put into the project.
While promoting 4, the icon stated that she has nothing left to prove, and I concur; Beyoncé remains unmatched with her work ethic, her well-rounded empire, and her aptitude to acquire success.
It doesn't hurt that she also places first among women on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart with an astounding 18. Perhaps, we can see another tally of 18 at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 12, 2012 if Beyoncé were to win the two awards she is nominated for.
